Service Award: Rotary Club

The Westlock Rotary Club is being recognized for its continued support of the Westlock Special Olympics. For the past 6 years the Westlock Rotary Club has hosted a golf tournament the first Friday in June in support of Special Olympians.

The initial idea was suggested to the Rotary Club by John Outeau, and the vision and the tournament has been carried on since then. Westlock Rotarians Laverne and his team of Shawna LeBlanc, Melanie Rottier and others have kept the vision alive. This year the tournament had a total of 144 golfers and the Club donated $7,000.00 towards Special Olympics in Westlock Community.

Merit Award: Allan Bala

More than anything, Allan wants a place of his very own. He has recently mastered many new skills that will help him on his way to his own place. This year he has learned to communicate better with everyone, including support people. He has learned to budget better and has both had a job and is looking into self employment. Allan, you can be proud of your accomplishments. Keep up the good work!
