At the Lac la Biche Community Council Meeting on Feb. 14, 2007 people talked about the following business:

Agency Updates

CLAD Name Change to Lac la Biche Disability Services

Jody Nicholson reported that an employer appreciation event will be held March 20. At that time CLAD’s new name Lac La Biche Disabilities Services will be announced.

Proceeds form the Casino fundraising brought in $50,000 for the agency. Some of the proceeds will be used to purchase a new van, drums for drumming sessions and kids on the block puppets.

Shawna is involved in an art project with Portage College called the People Project. This project makes people out of art material. It will connect individuals with disabilities with community artists to create a work of art. 300 art people will be showcased at Portage College, Town Hall and the NE PDD Conference.

Special Olympics

Special O has 4 swim sessions. Jennifer Mah and Joan Pattison are swim coaches.

Special O purchases the lanes at the for $45.00 which is paid by fundraising so there is no cost to participants.

NE PDD Board

Barb Chafee reported that Mike Balaski was hired to the cacant Community Services Coordinator position. One of his communities will be LLB.

Next meeting the Community Council will revisit the goals and objective for the Community Council.
