At the St. Paul Community Council Meeting on September 19, 2007 people talked about the following business:

Council Leadership

Individuals interested in being co-chair put their name into a jar. These individuals will serve 2-month terms each. These are: Brenda Boucher, Daniel Desjardins, Randy Jacobsen, and Judy Pereplecta.

The Council decided to continue with Daniel Desjardins (in training) as the Secretary for the Council.

Transportation Committee

Donna indicated that the survey has been summarized and a meeting will be called to discuss the next steps. Several people indicated an interest in attending the meeting.

Community Awareness Night

Lucille and Randy attended the booth at the Community Awareness Night. Lucille was pleased to report that they distributed pamphlets and discussed membership with a number of interested folk. The backdrop of the display was pictures from various Community Council functions.

NE PDD Conference

The Conference will be held on Nov. 2 & 3 in Bonnyville.

Recommendations will be made by the Awards Committee about who will receive the Merit and Community Service awards.

The display used in the Community Awareness Night will be used as a display at the Conference.

Special Olympics

There is a Volunteer BBQ on September 26 from 4:30- 5:30 pm at the Poundmaker parking lot.

The ball season ended with the successful 21st Annual Conrad Jean Softball tournament the last weekend in August. St. Paul’s team won the most Sportsmanship Award.

Bowling is being held every Wednesday at 6:00 pm at the Bowling Alley. The year will finish in April with the bowling tournament.

The Committee is very pleased and proud of the letter to the Editor regarding the Softball Tournament.

Community Council Co-Chairs

The Co-chairs will be meeting in Whitecourt on September 22, 2007. Lucille and Mark will attend on behalf of Community Council. The discussion will include such items as: the role of the community council, PDD and boards, current issues, and what we have learned from the 10 years of Community Councils.

The next meeting will be Oct. 9, 2007 at the Lion’s Den at 7:00 pm.
