At the Barrhead Community Council Meeting on October 15, 2007 people talked about the following business:

Social and Membership Committee

The Council is starting to plan for the 3rd annual Community Christmas supper. Employ Abilities is willing to help with the meal.

Co-Chairs Meeting

There will be a Co-Chair meeting set for the morning of November 3 along with the NE PDD Conference in Bonnyville.

Transportation Issues

Justin and Angie are very angry with the local taxi service. Angie was denied taxi service due to a driver not wanting to transport Angie’s chair. He said he could not lift the chair due to a sore back.

PDD will request that accessible transportation be an agenda item at the next Barrhead Interagency meeting.

As a community we need to develop an active committee to address the transportation crisis in the community. Justin and Angie would like to get involved with this.

Northeast Alberta PDD Board

Caren passed out NE PDD Board business cards with all the new members on them.

Caren will pass on information to our Community Council regarding terms of reference so our council can be prepared and have a proxy in place if needed for the next Co-Chair meeting.

Northeast Alberta PDD Conference

The Conference is November 2 & 3 in Bonnyville. Caren said the coach bus will pick everyone up at the IGA parking lot.

Caren let everyone know that next year is the 10th Annual Conference. They will be looking for some new ideas. One idea is ‘A trip down memory lane.’
