At the Barrhead Community Council Meeting on September 17, 2007 people talked about the following business:

Social and Membership Committee

Community Council had planned for a picnic this weekend but have combed their picnic with Blue Heron on Aug. 15. There will be a cost of $2.00 to cover the food expense. Call Eve or Vali at 674-4944.

Regional Co-Chair Meeting

Justin presented the motion that Council ask past Co-Chair to stand in when current Co-Chair cannot attend. If they are not free than another officer will be asked to go.

At the next Co-Chair meeting they will request a copy of DVD of the Whitecourt Community Council transportation presentation.

Community Council Budget

Don reported that after an expenditure Community Council will invoice him and he will sign his approval. He sends the invoice to St. Paul who will send a cheque to the person on the invoice.

Transportation Issues

There was a group discussion around what services Barrhead had in the past and what other communities are doing to address their transportation needs. There are two key issues. There is a need for accessible service and a need for subsidized service. This is a community problem as a whole. Some plans are:

• Patty will bring this item to the next Interagency meeting.
• Linda will find out what other community are doing, such as Lac St. Anne.
• Individuals will bring this issue to the All Candidates Forum on Oct 3.
• Co-chairs will discuss with other Co-Chairs to see what is happening in other communities.

New Taxi Service

There is another taxi operating called Barrhead Taxi Service. Call 674-6266. Both cab companies charge $6.00 per ride within Barrhead.

Northeast Alberta PDD

There will be a PDD Board Retreat at the end of November to bring new members up to date with their Strategic Plan.

The NE PDD Conference is being held in Cold Lake on Nov. 2 & 3 this year.

If anyone knows someone who is deserving of the Service or Merit award, please let Scott know. He will bring the list of nominees to the next Social and Community Membership Committee on Sept. 22.

There will be an all candidates forum on the evening of Oct 3 at the Seniors’ Drop in Centre. Please try to go with questions.
