At the Barrhead Community Council Meeting on Aug. 13, 2007 people talked about the following business:

Social and Membership Committee

Community Council had planned for a picnic this weekend but have combed their picnic with Blue Heron on Aug. 15. There will be a cost of $2.00 to cover the food expense. Call Eve or Vali at 674-4944.

Regional Co-Chair Meeting

On June 9, Harold and two other Council members went to the Co-Chair meeting in St. Paul. During the meeting they spoke of:

• The need of transportation within the communities and to get to regional activities.
• The needs around physical limitations in the community.
• Minimum wages.
• Social committees and membership drives.
• To get input from each community and what their needs are, and to connect with other councils and help each other.
• Everyone being members of their community.
• Housing problems.

Inclusion Awards

The nomination deadline has been extended for the Norm McLeod Inclusion Awards to August 31. Illie presented information on the award categories.

Community Council Budget

Council is not sure how they can access their Community Council budget. Illie will find out and pass the information on to the Finance Committee.

New Taxi Service

Bar cabs are no longer in service. Al’s Cab Service has started up. The cards the Council purchased are no longer valid. Al works from his home on a cash only basis. Call 674-1921.

Northeast Alberta PDD

There are four new Board members on the NE PDD Community Board.; Robert Annett of Plamondom, Treena Lane of Cold Lake, Edward Rondeau and Kathryn Wiebe from Bonnyville.

Transportation funding will begin transferring to AISH in September. It will be all transferred by March 31, 2008.

Regional Conferences. The Board is accepting letters of intent to host future regional conferences. If Barrhead is interested, the Council should submit a letter to Dale Drummond by Sept 15. For more information call Sharon Salomon at (780) 645-6416.

Location of Meeting

Don has not booked Hillcrest for the next meeting. If the meeting location is changed, people will be called. If there is no call, then the meeting will be at the Provincial building.
