At the Barrhead Community Council Meeting on May 28, 2007 people talked about the following business:

Social and Membership Committee

Scott gave out a list of upcoming activities that the Council will be doing over the next few weeks. Anyone who can volunteer to distribute flyers or help with an event should contact Scott.

Regional Co-Chair Meeting

Steven and Harold reported that the group had worked on a logo. Regional Chairs will be able to use the logo.

Harold reported that Mike Balaski from PDD shared financial guidelines for Community Boards. Each Community Council needs to complete a budget and pass it to Dale Drummond, the CEO of Northeast PDD. There also was discussion about transportation, housing and connecting with other communities.

Trade Fair

This was a great success. Many community members completed surveys throughout the weekend. Council raised $105.00. (10% of profits raised from the concession cart.)

Elections

Elections were for one of the Co-Chairs and the Treasurer. Harold Saunders was elected to the Co-Chair position. Don Cummings was re-elected to be Treasurer. A big thank you to Steven Bala for his hard work and commitment over the past two years.

Northeast Alberta PDD

Caren reported that the new chair of the PDD Board has not been decided. This has delayed the start of new Board members.

Effective April 1, 2008 transportation funding will come through AISH instead of through PDD. The NE Region will bring inequity issues forward to the Provincial Committee.

The Self Advocacy conference is set for June 20 – 22 in Lac La Biche. Members from Barrhead and Athabasca Community Councils are invited to attend the Aug 18 PDD Board meeting in St. Paul.

Next Meeting

June 18, 2007 at 6:30 pm at the Provincial building.
