At the Cold Lake Community Council Meeting on March 28, 2007 people talked about the following business:

People First

The date of the next meeting date is not certain. This will be announced at the next Community Council meeting.

PDD Update

Sherry, PDD Representative, reported that staff retention funding is being provided.

PDD made a presentation at the Affordable Housing Task Force meeting in Elk Point. PDD will be presenting a report in May. Solutions for affordable housing were talked about. Every community agreed that increasing AISH is needed. Many communities suggested that funding be assigned to each person, not the building.

PDD now has a Community Council funding guide.

Don Shultz is leaving the PDD board. Four new Board members will join by the end of May.

Transportation

The group talked about the issues with a bus in Cold Lake. Jennifer will bring more information about this to the next Community Council meeting.

Community Council

People talked about attending City Council meetings if no representative from the City can attend the Community Council meetings.

Housing

People talked about the large need for affordable housing in Cold Lake for people with and without disabilities. There are only twelve units with subsidized housing.

Education and Training

There is a website for post-secondary resources and a very good video that includes information about inclusion in colleges and universities. Post Secondary Resources

Logo Discussion

Dennis said the banner for the new logo can be changed for each council. Dennis thought that with a new logo Council members can go out to the community more to be better known.

Next Meeting

The next meeting is April 25, 2007.
