At the Cold Lake Community Council Meeting on September 26, 2007 people talked about the following business:

People First

Hannah said that People First are working to make a new logo for Cold Lake. There will be an email account set up and a newspaper article will be published so that the community will know more about People First. Anyone who has a disability or is around someone with a disability can attend meetings. People First would like to have a bake sale or a BBQ to raise money.

PDD Update

Marlene discussed the PDD conference being held in Cold Lake next year.

City Representative

Jen agreed to write a recommendation for a city representative to participate in the Community Council Meetings.

Other

Michelle talked about the letters that were sent out to all AISH recipients. There are changes in reporting either monthly, quarterly or annually. For example, if someone who receives AISH has a consistent income that rarely changes, then they could qualify for reporting their income on an annual basis. This would be less work for everyone. The process started in June 2007 and it is not clear who will have to do what reporting as yet.

Dennis suggested that because the meeting will fall on Hallowe’en this year that each member email their update. These updates would be put together in a newsletter for an email meeting. People agreed to try this.

Banner for Logo

Dennis showed everyone the log and said that ideas are needed for the banner. People are asked to bring three or four ideas to the next meeting.

Nov. 2 and 3 Conference in Bonnyville

Dennis said that six people are going to attend the conference. This does not include the co-chairs because they have separate invitations.

Co-Chair Meeting

Beverley reported that the Co-Chair meeting was good. She said that AISH will soon cover transportation expenses. Michell said that the Transportation Benefit, for people who are PDD recipients with assets under $3,000, can have their travel expenses covered when attending employment training or volunteering.

PDD Conference in 2008

Dennis said that Cold Lake will be hosting the conference. He asked if everyone was ready to host the conference. People talked about booking the Lakeland Inn, confirming conference dates and the need to get sponsors early.

Next Meeting

People decided to keep the Community Council meeting times the same. The next meeting is an email meeting on October 31.
