At the Barrhead Community Council Meeting on Jan. 15, 2007 people talked about the following business:

PDD Update
Henry expressed concern that the PDD Board Meetins are being held in St. Paul and not rotating through the communities. Henry’s concern was that it may pose hardship to community members to attend meetings, as well as only having a specific month for community presentations. Patty will pass these concerns to Dale Drummond. Patty also said that if a community member needed to go the Board Meeting for a presentation, special arrangements could be made. Also, Patty said that mileage may be available for a community member who requested it for attending the meeting.
Caring Hands
Janet belongs to a group that makes quilts for people in need. They make approximately 3 quilts per week. The group has donated 93 quilts to the Bissell Centre and 20 to Ronald McDonald house.
Guardian Support Group
Henry said that there is a lack of support for guardians in relation to agency issues and concerns. He felt that once a parents become guardians, there is not enough support networks to assist them. He would like to see PDD provide dollars to set up such a support for guardians. Patty said she would raise this request with Dale Drummond. Henry suggested that PDD set up a committee to address Guardian concerns and Family managed service concerns.
Poster and Brochure
Scott reported that the community council log that all councils adopted. Brochures and posters will be worked on by the regional community co-chairs group. Scott suggested that the Regional Co-Chairs meeting in March be held in Barrhead and the group supported this request.
